In addition to importing your customers, you will also want to import your price list into Housecall Pro. This will enable you to build estimates and jobs for your customers in the most efficient way.

If you are set up on a paid plan with us and if your price list is in Excel or a .CSV format, you can send your list to datahelp@housecallpro.com and we will format and import your list for you. Our turn-around time is 3 business days. If you don't want to wait for our team to do this, you are welcome to follow the below instructions to enter your price list data into our template and import your list on your own.

(Note: If you have Quickbooks Online, you will need to send your price list to datahelp@housecallpro.com. We will need to take a look at your account as a whole to determine the best course of action for importing your new price list items.)

  1. The first step is to download the template. To do so, you'll enter the web portal and go into your Account Settings page.

Then choose My Price List:

You'll then click the green + ADD button and Upload from CSV:

From there, you can download our template to your computer:

I recommend saving our template to your desktop or a folder on your computer that is easily accessible. (This template is also great to have for any future imports if you acquire an additional group of price list items that you want to add all at once instead of one at a time.)

2. Once it is saved, you'll want to open the template in a spreadsheet program. If you don't have Microsoft Excel, you can use another program such as Google Sheets or Numbers.

The below is a sample of what it will look like:

Categories are a way for you to organize your items into different folders. Your industry is something you'll choose prior to importing. Industries look like this:

Categories look like this:

Price List Items (In Template = Name) look like this:

Description will contain any details pertaining to the item and will show on the invoice to the customer so they can see what they're purchasing from you.

Amount is the dollar amount/price that shows on the invoice as due to the customer for the item.

Cost is for you to know the cost of the item to your company. (How much did you pay for it when you ordered it or bought it at the store?)

Taxable will be "true" (all lower case) if you charge tax for the item to the customer. If you don't charge tax for the item, this column can be left blank.

Unit of Measure is the unit type. For example, a unit type can be each, per hour, per square foot, etc.

When you're done entering the information, make sure you save your sheet as a .CSV file. Any other type of file will return a wrong file type error.

3. Once you're done with entering and organizing your price list items into our template, you're ready for import. To do this, you'll follow the same steps you did from above (in Step 1) to navigate to your price list page under settings. (Then click + ADD and Upload from .CSV). This box will pop up again, but instead of downloading the template, choose the industry you want and upload your file.

Once you select your Industry and attach your file, the Submit button will go from light gray to blue.

After you click Submit, the system will spin and you can click OK. Refresh the page to start seeing your results. It may take a few minutes and a few refreshes. If nothing happens within 30 minutes, the import didn't take. If this happens, I recommend chatting in with the Blue Chat Bubble. We can double-check the formatting and offer further trouble-shooting as needed.

If your price list successfully imports, you will receive a confirmation email.

We hope this helps as you prepare your price list for import into your Housecall Pro account. If you run into anything along the way or have any questions, please feel free to message us via the Blue Chat Bubble.
