  1. What is Accounting powered by Bench?
    Accounting powered by Bench is an online bookkeeping tool integrated and synced with your Housecall Pro account. Using Accounting, you will get your books done for you, have unlimited access to an expert bookkeeper team, and track all money in and out with simple dashboards. Financial inputs from Housecall Pro (invoices, customer payments, expense cards, business financing, payroll, etc.) and other financial transactions will be captured automatically and managed by your online bookkeeping team.

  2. Who is Bench?
    Bench is America's largest professional online bookkeeping service that helps simplify and bring value to your business finances all powered by real, human bookkeepers. Housecall Pro is partnering with Bench to deliver a best-in-class solution to take bookkeeping off your hands.

  3. What does my bookkeeper do?
    Your online bookkeeper reconciles your accounts, categorizes your transactions, and produces your monthly and annual financial statements. They also make adjustments to your books to ensure they’re tax-compliant. Occasionally your bookkeeper might need your input on things like categorizing a transaction properly, but we try our best to make bookkeeping as hands-off as possible for you. You can also book a call with your bookkeeper (or send them an in-app message) whenever you’d like.

  4. I’m behind on my books. Can you get me caught up?
    At the time being (in alpha phase) we are not offering historical accounting, however we plan to add so-called Catch Up (historical) bookkeeping as one of the features since beta phase. Stay tuned then.

  5. Can this completely replace my current accounting software?
    Yes - Housecall Pro Accounting will be your new accounting software and your new bookkeeping team. When you sign up, we’ll take bookkeeping off your plate completely—which means you won’t need to use any other accounting software.

  6. How much does Housecall Pro Accounting cost?
    For Alpha group members, Housecall Pro Accounting is free for the first 3 months, then $300 per month thereafter. You can opt out anytime.

  7. What’s the difference between Housecall Pro Accounting and QuickBooks?
    QuickBooks gives you a tool to do your own bookkeeping. Our Accounting solution powered by Bench will do your bookkeeping for you and is integrated with your Housecall Pro account. You’ll get a team of real, expert bookkeepers in addition to a mobile friendly platform to access your up-to-date financials.

  8. How can I get started?

  9. Does Accounting support both cash and accrual accounting?
    a. This solution offers a modified form of cash basis bookkeeping. For example, your transactions will be recorded as soon as the money hits your bank or as soon as a charge hits your credit card. We also can manage some accrual adjustments regardless of when money is actually received/paid as needed.
    b. We think this will work for most Pros but if you’re not sure this will work for you, reach out and we’ll help understand if this is a good fit for you and your business!
