How to Register Your Business Information for A2P 10DLC Compliance

Your business must register its information for A2P10DLC to keep full functionality of sending SMS messages through Housecall Pro.

What is A2P 10DLC?

A2P 10DLC refers to a system in the United States that allows businesses to send Application-to-Person (A2P) type messaging via standard 10-digit long code (10DLC) phone numbers.

Why do I have to do this?

All companies in the United States that utilize application-to-person messaging (A2P) are required to go through a registration process that verifies their legitimacy. You can read more about A2P 10DLC here.

How do I register?

Registering your business is simple. You can register your business via one of the following:

  • Follow this link OR

  • Select "VERIFY BUSINESS INFO" on the banner in your dashboard

→ If you have an EIN, please select "I have an EIN" on the form

→ If you do not have an EIN, please select "I don't have an EIN" on the form
→ If you do business primarily in Canada, please select "I do business primarily in Canada" (Canada is exempt from A2P10DLC, at this time)

I was seeing a different banner before, why am I seeing this one now?

If you previously saw a banner to complete an OTP and are now seeing a register banner, you must complete this form in order to proceed in the registration process. Each registration takes ~8-10 business days to process and your outstanding registration would not have been reviewed by our vendors in time to meet the September 1st deadline, which is when unregistered messaging will be blocked by Twilio.

What happens if I am not registered by September 1st?

Starting September 1st, if you haven't finished your registration, you can still chat with customers, but with reduced features:

  • Customers will receive your text messages but will not be able to respond to your messages

  • You will not be able to send attachments or photos to customers

During this time, we'll move you to a 5-digit shortcode so you can keep communicating.

Once your registration is approved in settings, you'll go back to using your regular 10-digit code with full features.

If you have any questions, please reach out to us through the blue chat bubble.
