Learn how to add segments to jobs. Segments are perfect for multi-day jobs or jobs that require more than one visit.

Add Segments to a Job (HCP Web Portal)

To add a segment to a job:

  • Open a job you would like to add a segment to.

  • Click the wrench icon in the top right corner of the Job Details page.

  • Select 'Add segment' from the drop-down menu, and the "Create new segment" window will appear.

  • Rename the segment (optional), and click 'Create' in the bottom right corner of the window.

  • This will create a blank form to be filled out with the new invoice information, schedule, and notes.  

    • Segment #1 will have all the information you've already entered into those fields.

    • Segment #2 will be blank, ready for you to enter the information for the next portion of the job.  

  • Repeat this process to create as many segments as needed. The job will have one invoice number, with sub-numbers (ex. Invoice #6-2) assigned to each segment.

  • You can toggle between each segment by clicking the Segment tabs in the top left corner of the Job Details page.


Add or Remove Segments on an Invoice (HCP Web Portal)

Segments can be billed separately or all together! Follow the instructions below to learn how.

Please Note: The segment you're on when you click the wrench icon will be selected by default and cannot be removed from the invoice. If this segment shouldn't be included in the invoice, you'll need to navigate back to the Job Details page and select a segment that should be included.

To add segments to an invoice:

  • Open a job and click the Invoice button (paper airplane) at the top of the page.

  • You'll be taken to the Invoice preview, where you can modify the invoice settings before sending the invoice to a customer.

  • Click the pencil icon in the Segments section to the right.

  • Check the box next to each segment you'd like to include in the invoice.

  • Click 'Save' in the Segments window, and you're all set! The selected segments will be added to the invoice.

Please Note: The segment you're on when you click the wrench icon will be selected by default and cannot be removed from the invoice. If this segment shouldn't be included in the invoice, you'll need to navigate back to the Job Details page and select a segment that should be included.


Rename Segments (HCP Web Portal)

Each portion of a multi-part job or multi-option estimate can be named to reflect whatever label or title you prefer.

To rename a segment:

  • Open a job to be directed to the Job Details page.

  • Hover your mouse over the Segment tab at the top of the page and click the 3-dot icon that appears to the right.

  • Select 'Rename' from the drop-down.

  • Enter a new name for the segment and click 'RENAME' in the bottom right corner of the window.


Cancel or Delete a Segment from a Job (HCP Web Portal)

To cancel or delete a segment from a job:

  • Open a job to view the Job Details page.

  • Hover over the Segment tab you'd like to delete and click the 3 dots that appear.

  • Select 'Cancel (segment name)' or 'Delete (segment name)' from the drop-down menu, and a confirmation window will appear.

  • Canceling a segment is the same as canceling a job, and you can choose to notify the customer of the cancellation by checking the 'Notify customer' box in the window if it's not already selected. (The Notify customer option will be preselected based on the customer's notification preferences).

  • When you're ready, click 'Yes, Cancel the Segment.'

  • To delete the segment, just click 'Delete' in the confirmation window, and you're all set!

Segments on the HCP Mobile App (iOS)

Add, copy, rename, and delete segments from your iPhone or iPad!


Add a Segment (HCP Mobile App - iOS)

To add a segment to a job on mobile iOS devices (iPhones/iPads):

  • Open a job and tap the 'More' icon in the top right corner of your screen.

  • Select from the following options:

    • 'Add segment' - add a brand new, blank segment

    • 'Copy segment' - copy all job information to the new segment

  • If you choose:

    • 'Add segment' - you can type in a custom name for the segment

    • 'Copy segment' - select if you'd like job attachments copied over as well (the pop-up will appear with or without attachments on the job)

Please Note: Whether a segment is copied or added, it will still need to be scheduled.

  • Tap the segment name at the top (under the Actions menu) to view the segment details, or swipe left/right between pages.


Rename Segments (HCP Mobile App - iOS)

Once a segment has been added to a job, you will have the option to rename any and all segments of the job.

To rename a segment:

  • Open a job and select the segment you'd like to rename.

  • Tap the 'More' icon in the top right corner of your screen and select 'Rename segment.'

  • Enter the new name of the segment, tap 'Confirm,' and you're all set!


Delete Segments (HCP Mobile App - iOS)

To delete a segment from a job:

  • Open a job and select the segment you'd like to delete.

  • Tap the 'More' icon in the top right corner of your screen.

  • Select 'Delete segment' then tap 'Confirm' to finalize the action, and the segment will be removed from the job.

Please Note: To delete a job, all segments must be removed from the job.


Add Segments to an Invoice (HCP Mobile App - iOS)

You can add multiple segments to an invoice as long as they have line items and a due amount.

To add segments to an invoice:

  • Open a job and tap the 'Invoice' icon at the top of your screen.

    • This will direct you to the Invoice preview, where you can adjust the invoice settings before sending it to the customer.

  • Tap the wrench icon at the top of the Invoice preview, then tap the toggle next to each segment you'd like to include on the invoice.

  • Select 'Done' in the top right corner of your screen, and you're all set!



Segments on the HCP Mobile App (Android)

Not only can you copy or add brand new segments to a job on the Android mobile app, but you can schedule, edit, rename, and even delete!

To add a segment to a job:

  • Open the job details page.

  • Click the 'More' icon in the upper right corner of your screen.

  • Select from the following options:

    • Add segment: add a brand new, blank segment.

    • Copy segment: copy all job information to the new segment.

  • If you choose:

    • 'Add segment' - you can type in a custom name for the segment

    • 'Copy segment' - select if you'd like job attachments copied over as well (the pop-up will appear with or without attachments on the job)

Delete Segments (Android)

Delete one or more segments from a job. To completely delete a job, you must delete all segments.

To delete a segment on Android:

  • Open a job and select the segment you'd like to delete.

  • Tap the 'More' icon in the top right corner of your screen.

  • Select 'Delete' and confirm that you'd like to delete the segment.


Add Segments to an Invoice (HCP Mobile App - Android)

You can add multiple segments to an invoice as long as they have line items and a due amount.

To add segments to an invoice:

  • Open a job and tap the 'Invoice' icon (paper airplane) at the top of your screen.

  • Tap the wrench icon to add segments to an invoice.

  • Check the box next to each segment you'd like to add to the invoice, then tap the gray area of your screen to close the menu.

  • When you're ready to send the invoice, tap 'Send' in the top right corner of your screen.
