If you sent a marketing text blast to your customer list and got a "message filtered" error, it means mobile carriers flagged your messages as likely spam before they reached your customers' phones.
The good news: this is usually fixable. Work through the checklist below to find the cause.
1. Check your message content
Reread your message for spammy-sounding language — words like "FREE," "ACT NOW," excessive exclamation points, or ALL CAPS can trigger spam filters.
Avoid vague or misleading claims, and avoid pasting in multiple raw links — Housecall Pro already adds one unsubscribe link to every campaign text automatically.
Make sure how often you're texting (and what you're texting about) matches what your customers actually signed up for.
2. Make sure your business is verified
Marketing texts require your business and phone number to be registered and verified with carriers. Confirm this is complete and approved.
Double-check that the business name, address, and details you submitted for verification match your business exactly — small mismatches are a common reason verifications get rejected.
If a verification was rejected, check the reason given and resubmit with corrected information.
3. Check your account status
Go to Settings > Text Messages and confirm your business registration is active. If it's not, you'll see a banner explaining why and what to fix.
Confirm you're allowed to send text messages to all the areas you're texting (some regions have extra requirements).
If your registration looks good and you're still getting filtered, that's not something you can self-diagnose further. Contact Housecall Pro support so we can look at your account directly.
4. Check your opt-out rate
Only text customers who've actually opted in, and regularly remove numbers that are inactive or have opted out.
Make sure STOP, START, and HELP replies are working correctly for your account.
Keep your opt-in and opt-out process clear and easy for customers to use.
