Job Segments Overview (Web & Mobile)

Learn how to create, rename, invoice, cancel, and delete job segments to manage multi-day jobs or jobs that require more than one visit.

Segments on the HCP Web Portal


Add Segments to a Job (HCP Web Portal)

To add a segment to a job in the HCP web portal:

  • Open the job you want to add a segment to.

  • Click the gear and wrench icon in the top right corner of the Job Details page.

  • Select Add segment from the drop-down menu. The Create new segment window will appear.

  • (Optional) Rename the segment, then click Create in the bottom right corner of the window.

  • This will create a new job segment, where you can enter separate invoice details, scheduling, and notes.

    • Segment #1 will keep all the existing information you've already entered.

    • Segment #2 will start blank, ready for details related to the next portion of the job.  

  • You can repeat this process to add as many segments as needed. The job will maintain a single invoice number, with sub-numbers (e.g., Invoice #6-2) assigned to each segment.

  • To switch between segments, click the Segment tabs at the top left of the Job Details page.


Invoice Multiple Segments (HCP Web Portal)

You can choose to invoice segments individually or group multiple segments into a single invoice. Before sending the invoice, you have the option to add or remove segments as needed.

Please note: Multiple segments cannot be added to an invoice if Progress Invoicing is enabled in your account.

To invoice multiple segments in the HCP web portal:

  • First, open the job details page.

  • Click the Invoice icon (paper airplane) at the top of the job details page.

  • In the Invoice preview, click the blue pencil icon under the Segments section.

  • Next, check or uncheck the box next to each segment you want to include or remove from the invoice.

  • Then, click SAVE to apply your changes.

Please note: The segment number you select when you first click Send Invoice is automatically included and can’t be unchecked. To exclude it, return to the Job Details page and select a different segment before opening the invoice.


Rename Segments (HCP Web Portal)

Each portion of a multi-part job or multi-option estimate can be named to reflect whatever label or title you prefer.

To rename a segment in the HCP web portal:

  • First, open the job to view the Job Details page.

  • Click on the segment tab and select the More icon (3 vertical dots)

  • Next, choose Edit segment name from the drop-down.

  • Then, enter the new name for the segment and click Rename in the bottom right corner of the window.


Cancel or Delete a Segment from a Job (HCP Web Portal)

To cancel or delete a segment from a job:

  • First, open a job to view the Job Details page.

  • Select the Segment tab you'd like to delete and click the More icon (3 vertical dots)

  • Click Cancel (Segment name) or Delete (Segment name) from the drop-down menu, and a confirmation window will appear.

  • Canceling a segment works the same way as canceling a job. If the Notify customer box isn't already selected, you can choose to notify the customer by checking it. (This option is preselected based on the customer’s notification preferences.)

  • When you're ready, click Yes, Cancel the Segment.

  • To delete the segment, click Delete in the confirmation window to confirm.

Segments on the HCP Mobile App (iOS)

Add, copy, rename, and delete segments from your iPhone or iPad!


Add a Segment (HCP Mobile App - iOS)

To add a segment to a job in the HCP mobile app (iPhones/iPads):

  • Open a job and tap the More icon (3 vertical dots) in the top right corner of your screen.

  • Select from the following options:

    • Add segment - add a brand new, blank segment

    • Copy to new segment - copy all job information to the new segment

If you choose:

  • Add segment - you can type in a custom name for the segment

  • Copy to new segment - select if you'd like job attachments copied over as well (the pop-up will appear with or without attachments on the job)

  • Tap the segment name at the top (under the Actions menu) to view the segment details, or swipe left/right between pages.

Please Note: Whether a segment is copied or added, it will still need to be scheduled.


Rename Segments (HCP Mobile App - iOS)

Once a segment has been added to a job, you will have the option to rename the segment.

To rename a segment in the HCP mobile app on iOS:

  • Open a job and select the segment you'd like to rename.

  • Tap the More icon in the top right corner of your screen and select Edit the segment name

  • Enter the new name of the segment, and tap Confirm.


Delete Segments (HCP Mobile App - iOS)

To delete a segment from a job in the HCP mobile app on iOS:

  • Open a job and select the segment you'd like to delete.

  • Tap the More icon in the top right corner of your screen.

  • Select the Delete segment, then tap Confirm to finalize the action, and the segment will be removed from the job.

Please Note: To delete a job, all segments must be removed from the job.


Invoice Multiple Segments (HCP Mobile App - iOS)

You can add or remove multiple segments to an invoice as long as they have line items and a due amount.

To invoice multiple segments in the HCP mobile app on iOS:

  • Open a job and tap the Invoice icon (paper airplane) at the top of your screen.

    • This will direct you to the Invoice preview, where you can adjust the invoice settings before sending it to the customer.

  • In the Invoice preview, tap the wrench icon at the top, then turn the toggle on or off next to each segment depending on whether you want it included or removed from the invoice.

  • Then, select Done in the top right corner of your screen.



Segments on the HCP Mobile App (Android)

Not only can you copy or add brand new segments to a job on the Android mobile app, but you can schedule, edit, rename, and even delete!


Add Segments to a Job (HCP Mobile App - Android)

To add a segment to a job in the HCP mobile app on Android:

  • Open the job details page.

  • Click the More icon in the upper right corner of your screen.

Select from the following options:

  • Add segment: Add a new job segment

  • Copy segment: copy all job information to the new segment.

  • If you choose:

    • Add segment - Allows you to change the name before creating the new segment

    • Copy segment - Allows you to copy attachments if you'd like job attachments copied over as well (the pop-up will appear with or without attachments on the job)


Rename Segments (HCP Mobile App - Android)

Once a segment has been added to a job, you will have the option to rename the segment.

To rename a segment in the HCP mobile app on Android:

  • Open a job and select the segment you'd like to rename.

  • Tap the More icon in the top right corner of your screen.

  • Select Rename segment.

  • Enter the new name of the segment, and click Rename.


Delete Segments (Android)

Delete one or more segments from a job. To completely delete a job, you must delete all segments.

To delete a segment on the HCP mobile app on Android:

  • Open a job and select the segment you'd like to delete.

  • Tap the More icon in the top right corner of your screen.

  • Select Delete and confirm that you'd like to delete the segment.

You can add or remove multiple segments to an invoice as long as they have line items and a due amount.

To invoice multiple segments in the HCP mobile app on Android:

  • Open a job and tap the Invoice icon (paper airplane) at the top of your screen.

  • In the Invoice preview, tap the wrench icon to add segments to an invoice.

  • Check or uncheck the box next to each segment you'd like to add or remove from the invoice, then tap the gray area of your screen to close the menu.

  • When you're ready to send the invoice, tap Send in the top right corner of your screen.
