How to Set Up a Customer Referral Campaign

92% of consumers trust suggestions from friends and family more than any other type of advertising. Leverage this trust and the trust you have built with your customers to acquire new customers by utilizing postcards to create a customer referral campaign.

Step 1: Set Goals

Before you create any marketing campaign you need to set a goal for the campaign. What is the result you are looking to drive? Remember these goals should be SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely)A few ideas to get you started:

  • Specific number of new customers over a specific timeframe

  • Specific number of service calls scheduled for new customers over a specific timeframe

  • Specific number of jobs scheduled by existing customers that receive the postcard over a specific timeframe

Step 2: Determine What Customers You Are Targeting

You may not need or want to send this campaign to every customer in your database, so determine which customers you want to send the referral campaign to and tag these customers with a customer tag that is specific to this campaign. How to Set Up a Customer Loyalty Campaign

How do you turn customers into lifelong loyal customers who will see you as their go-to brand for themselves and refer you to family and friends? Appreciation is one way to build this loyalty. In this video, we are going to share a strategy for utilizing your Reporting tab, customer tags, and postcards to drive a customer loyalty campaign that you can run biannually or annually.

Step 1: Decide your Cadence

In order to drive a successful customer loyalty campaign you need to decide how often you will run a campaign each year. We recommend once or twice a year.

Step 2: Determine Your Top 20 Customers

Access the Reporting tab by clicking on 'Reporting' in the main navigation bar at the top of your Housecall Pro account.

Once you navigate to your Reporting tab, click 'Jobs' from the left-hand menu under 'All Reports.' On the 'Jobs' dashboard, under the 'Date' header, select 'Job Revenue Earned.'

The page will display job revenue data. Click the 'From' dropdown at the top of the page to set your desired date range.

Next, use the 'By' dropdown to select 'Customer Name.'

This will generate a report listing customers with the highest revenue for the specified period. Click 'Export' above 'Job Revenue' to download the report.

Step 3: Tag Customers as Top 20

Navigate to your customer list by clicking the 'Customers' tab in the top navigation bar of your Housecall Pro account. Select the customers you want to tag by checking the boxes next to each name listed in your exported report. Then, click the 'Actions' dropdown in the upper-right-hand corner and choose 'Add Tag.' In the pop-up window, enter 'Top 20' as the tag name and click 'Add' in the bottom right corner to apply the tag.

Step 4: Create One-Time Postcard Campaign

Navigate to your Postcard tool and create a one-time campaign by following the steps outlined in this help article.

In Step 3 (Recipients) filter your customer list by searching for the 'Top 20' tag. Select all the customers tagged with this label who will receive the postcard.
