NOTE: Deleting an industry will also delete all of the categories and services that live below it. This could lead to massive accidental data loss.
How to add, edit, and delete an industry from your Price Book
To access the Price Book feature, click into Price book from the main navigation bar across the top of your web portal’s dashboard or home page. If you have a lot of features in the top navigation bar, your Price book may be nested under the More drop-down.
Add an industry
Once you have navigated to your price book, ensure that Services is selected from the left-hand menu, located directly beneath the Price book heading. Select the oval Add Industry button in the upper right corner of your price book.
A pop-up window will appear, featuring a drop-down menu. From the dropdown, you must select an industry from the list of Housecall Pro-defined industries. You cannot add an industry outside of the dropdown list at this time. Select the industry that best describes your business.
You can also add an image to represent the industry you have chosen. To do this, click on Add Image in the center of the pop-up window and select your chosen file from your device. You can always come back to add an image later! More information on how to add an image to your price book industries can be found here.
Once the industry is selected, and if applicable, an image has been uploaded, click Save in the lower right corner of the pop-up window.
Edit an industry
To edit an industry, ensure that Services is selected from the left-hand menu of your price book, located directly beneath the Price book heading. You will see all your industries presented here in a grid format. Click on the icon with 3 dots, located in the bottom right corner of the industry you wish to edit.
Click “Edit” from the dropdown options.
A pop-up window will appear on the screen. Industry names cannot be changed after being selected when you initially chose your industry. The only thing that can be changed is the industry image. If you already have an image added to the industry and wish to replace it, you can do this by clicking into Replace Image located in the center of your current one.
Images have to have an aspect ratio of 1.5:1. You will have the ability to crop the image before uploading. More information on how to edit an industry image in your price book can be found here.
Delete an industry
To delete an industry, ensure that Services is selected from the left-hand menu of your price book, located directly beneath the Price book heading. You will see all your industries presented here in a grid format. Click on the icon with 3 dots, located in the bottom right corner of the industry you wish to delete.
From the dropdown, click “Delete”.
Please note that deleting an industry will delete every category and service nested beneath it. Proceed with caution when deleting an industry from your price book to avoid accidental data loss.
