QuickBooks Online Class tracking is now available in Housecall Pro. Classes from QuickBooks Online are imported as Business Units in Housecall Pro.

Prerequisite for Class Tracking in Housecall Pro

  1. Only available for QuickBooks Online users.

  2. Class Tracking must be turned on in QuickBooks Online.

  3. Only available to pros who use class tracking on the ENTIRE TRANSACTION

How do I turn on Class Tracking in QuickBooks Online?

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online Account

  2. Click on the gear in the upper right corner

  3. Click "Account and Settings" from the menu

  4. Select "Advanced" from the left navigation

  5. Open the "Categories" section

  6. Turn on Classes and select "One to entire transaction"

Importing Classes from QuickBooks Online

Pros who import data from QuickBooks Online will also import classes. Classes are imported as Business Units in Housecall Pro.

  1. Imported jobs from QuickBooks Online will include any class that is applied to a job. These will appear as business units on the job.

  2. You can find Business Units in Housecall Pro under settings>job fields> business units.

How do I get my existing Classes in Housecall Pro as Business Units?

There are two ways to get classes in Housecall Pro as Business Units.

  1. Import from QuickBooks Online.

    1. Log in to Housecall Pro and go to the QuickBooks App Details Page from the Apps icon in the navigation.

    2. Click Import

    3. Once the import is complete, your Classes will appear as Business Units.

  2. Add Classes as Business Units to Housecall Pro

    1. Log in to Housecall Pro and go to the gear icon in the upper right corner

    2. Select Job Fields

    3. Scroll down to add Business Units.

    4. You must add the Business Unit exactly as it appears as a Class in QuickBooks Online. Otherwise a new class with a similar name will be created in QuickBooks.

NOTE: Invoices previously imported will not include classes.

Applying Business Units to jobs in Housecall Pro

  1. Apply a Business Unit to a job on the Jobs page.

  2. Create a new Business Unit or Apply an existing Business Unit to the Job. Imported classes from QuickBooks Online will also appear in the list.

Exporting jobs with Business Units to QuickBooks Online as Classes

  1. Jobs exported to QuickBooks Online that include a new or existing Business Unit will be exported to QuickBooks Online automatically as a class is applied to the job.

  2. New classes will be created in QuickBooks Online if one does not already exist.
