Know the Moment a Customer Opens Your Estimate

Stop guessing when to follow up. Get notified the first time a customer opens an estimate you sent, so you can reach out at the right moment.

This article covers how estimate view notifications work and what they do and don't cover.

Status: This feature is in early alpha testing and may not be available on your account yet.

What you can do

  • Get a notification in your web notification bell the first time a customer opens an estimate you sent.

  • Click the notification to go straight to that estimate's details page.

  • See the total number of times an estimate has been viewed in that estimate's activity feed.

Estimate View Notifications on the Web

How it works:

  • Send an estimate to a customer as usual.

  • The first time the customer opens or clicks into the estimate, you get a notification in your web notification bell/center.

  • Click the notification to go directly to that estimate's details page.

  • Open the estimate's activity feed to see the total number of times it's been viewed.

📌 Note: You're only notified on the customer's first view. Reopening the same estimate again doesn't trigger another notification, though the view count in the activity feed keeps counting all views.

Good To Know

  • Web only: This is currently available on the web portal; mobile isn't included yet.

  • First view only: You get a notification the first time a customer opens the estimate, not on every repeat view.

  • Doesn't track email opens: This notifies you when the customer opens the estimate itself, not when they open the email you sent it in. Email-open tracking is intentionally left out — Apple's email privacy protections make that signal unreliable, so this feature only tracks real, verified estimate views.

  • Separate from approve/decline notifications: If you already get notified when a customer approves or declines an estimate, that's a different, existing notification — this is specifically about when they view it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I get notified every time the customer reopens the estimate?

  • No — only on the first view. The activity feed on the estimate still shows the total view count if you want to see repeat activity.

Does this tell me if the customer opened my email?

  • No — this tracks whether the customer opened the estimate itself, not the email. Email-open tracking isn't reliable enough to build on, so it's intentionally not part of this feature.

Is this the same as getting notified when a customer approves or declines an estimate?

  • No — approve/decline notifications already exist separately. This notification is only about the customer viewing the estimate.

Does this work on the mobile app?

  • Not yet — this is web-only for now.
