Jobs & Invoices: How to Delete, Cancel, and Restore

Learn how to delete, cancel, or restore a job easily through the HCP web portal with these simple steps.

How to Delete a Job/Invoice

If you need to delete an invoice, follow these steps to delete a job. The invoice associated with that job will be deleted.

To delete a Job or Invoice:

  • Open a job to access the Job Details page.

  • Click the gear & wrench icon in the top-right corner of the page.

  • Select Delete job from the drop-down.

  • Click Delete in the confirmation window to delete the job. 

📌 Note: Deleted Jobs will be removed from the Customer Profile, but they will still be accessible in your Housecall Pro account. As a result, the Job number associated with a deleted Job will remain the same and cannot be reused for a new Job.



​How to Delete an Unscheduled Job

To delete an unscheduled job, follow these steps:

  • Click on the Schedule tab in the navigation bar at the top of your HCP account.

  • Click the calendar icon with an X in the top-left corner of the page to view unscheduled jobs.

    • The number in the red badge is the total of unscheduled jobs/estimates.

  • Locate and click on the unscheduled job. You'll then be redirected to the Job Details page.

  • Click the gear & wrench icon in the top-right corner of the page.

  • Select Delete job from the drop-down.

  • Click Delete in the confirmation window to delete the job.

Things to Know:

  • At this time, unscheduled jobs/estimates cannot be deleted in bulk and will need to be deleted one at a time.

  • If a job has been completed but never scheduled, you can remove it from the Unscheduled panel by clicking the Finish button in the Action Bar of the Job Details page.

    • Be sure the Notify Customer box is unchecked to avoid automated messaging to your customer.

  • At this time, multiple jobs cannot be merged into a single job if they were created separately. If you need to combine details from multiple jobs into one, this will need to be done manually.

📌 Note: Deleted Jobs will be removed from the Customer Profile, but they will still be accessible in your Housecall Pro account. As a result, the Job number associated with a deleted Job will remain the same and cannot be reused for a new Job.


How to Cancel a Job

When a job is canceled, an email and text notification will be sent to the customer, and the job will show as canceled in their Customer Profile.

To cancel a job, follow these steps:

  • Open a job to access the Job Details page.

  • Click the gear & wrench icon in the top-right corner of the page.

  • Select "Cancel job" from the drop-down.

  • The Notify Customer checkbox will be pre-selected based on the customer's notification preferences.

    • If you want to notify the customer about the cancellation, ensure the checkbox is checked.

    • To prevent the notification from being sent, simply uncheck the box.

  • Click "Yes, Cancel the Job" to confirm.

  • After canceling a job, your customer will automatically receive a notification via email/text (if applicable) to inform them of the cancellation.

How to Restore Jobs/Invoices

If a job was accidentally deleted or canceled, we've got you covered! You can quickly restore a job (and the invoice associated with it) by following these steps:

  • Click the Customers tab in the navigation bar at the top of your account.

  • Select Jobs from the menu on the left.

  • Click the Actions button in the top-right corner of the page, then select "Restore jobs" from the drop-down.

  • Click Restore on the line of the job you need to restore.

  • Once the process is complete, both the job and its associated invoice will be successfully restored.

  • You will be automatically redirected to the Job Details page, where you can now reschedule the job to a new time and date.

📌 Note: The system will not automatically reschedule the job. You'll need to manually schedule a new date/time.
