Jobs & Invoices: How to Delete, Cancel, and Restore

Learn how to delete, cancel, or restore a job easily through the HCP web portal with these simple steps.

Delete a Job or Invoice

If you need to delete an invoice, follow these steps to delete a job. The invoice associated with that job will be deleted.

To delete a job or invoice:

  • Open a job

  • Click the gear & wrench icon in the top right corner of the page

  • Select Delete job from the dropdown

  • Click Delete in the confirmation window

📌 Note: Deleted jobs are removed from the Customer Profile but remain accessible in your Housecall Pro account. Job numbers from deleted jobs cannot be reused.


Delete an Unscheduled Job

To delete an unscheduled job, follow these steps:

  • Click on the Schedule tab in the navigation bar at the top of your HCP account.

  • Click the calendar icon in the top-left corner of the page to view unscheduled jobs.

    • The number in the red badge is the total of unscheduled jobs/estimates.

  • Locate and click on the unscheduled job. You'll then be redirected to the Job details page.

  • Click the gear & wrench icon in the top right corner of the page

  • Select Delete job

  • Click Delete to confirm

Things to know:

  • Unscheduled jobs and estimates must be deleted one at a time

  • If a job was completed but never scheduled, you can remove it from the Unscheduled panel by clicking Finish in the Action Bar

    • Be sure Notify Customer is unchecked to avoid automated messages

  • Jobs created separately cannot be merged into a single job and must be combined manually

📌 Note: Deleted jobs are removed from the Customer Profile but remain accessible in your Housecall Pro account. Job numbers cannot be reused.


Cancel a Job

When a job is canceled, an email and text notification will be sent to the customer (if applicable), and the job will show as Canceled in their Customer Profile.

To cancel a job:

  • Open a job

  • Click the gear & wrench icon in the top right corner of the page

  • Select Cancel job

  • Notify Customer will be pre-selected based on the customer's notification preferences. If you want to notify the customer about the cancellation, ensure the checkbox is checked. To prevent the notification from being sent, simply uncheck the box.

  • Click Yes, Cancel the Job

  • If enabled, the customer will receive an email and/or text confirming the cancellation.

Restore a Job or Invoice

If a job was deleted or canceled by mistake, you can restore it along with its associated invoice.

To restore a job or invoice:

  • Select Customers from the top navigation bar

  • Select Jobs from the left menu

  • Click Actions, then select Restore jobs

  • Click Restore next to the job you want to recover

Once restored:

  • The job and invoice will be available again

  • You’ll be redirected to the Job details page

  • The job must be manually rescheduled

📌 Note: Restored jobs are not automatically scheduled.


Important: Progress Invoicing

If you’re using Progressive Invoicing, jobs can have multiple invoices. How you remove an invoice depends on what you’re trying to do.

If you only need to remove one invoice from a job:

  • You’ll need to void that invoice

  • Voiding is only available when using Progress Invoicing

  • An invoice can only be voided if the invoiced amount is greater than $0.00

If you delete or cancel the job:

  • All invoices associated with that job will also be deleted or canceled

  • Individual invoices cannot be kept if the job is removed
