Unschedule vs. Cancel vs. Delete

There are differences between unscheduling, canceling, and deleting jobs and estimates for both you and your customer.

There are some key differences that distinguish deleting from canceling and unscheduling. Take a look at the list of indicators and criteria for each below.


Unschedule

Situation: Your customer needs to reschedule, but doesn't know what time or day will work best yet and will need to call back to schedule. 

  • The customer will NOT receive any notifications.

  • The job/estimate will be removed from the calendar.

  • Unscheduled jobs will remain in the Jobs tab of the Customer Profile.

  • Unscheduled estimates will remain in the Estimates tab of the Customer Profile.

  • The status of unscheduled jobs/estimates will be displayed as "Unscheduled" in their respective tabs within the Customer Profile.

  • They will appear in the Needs Attention section of your HCP mobile app.

  • Unscheduled jobs/estimates can be deleted.

📌 Note: The Unschedule option isn’t available for jobs that include appointments. Because appointments are designed to store date and time details, a job created while Appointments are enabled can’t be unscheduled. If you need to unschedule a job, delete any existing appointments.


Cancel

Situation: The customer no longer needs your service, but you still need the job/estimate to show in their account for your records, and you'd like them to receive a confirmation that the job has been canceled.  

  • Customers WILL receive a text and email notification.

  • The job/estimate will be removed from the calendar.

  • Canceled jobs will remain in the Jobs tab of the Customer Profile.

  • Canceled estimates will remain in the Estimates tab of the Customer Profile.

  • The status of canceled jobs/estimates will be displayed as "Canceled" in their respective tabs within the Customer Profile.


Delete

Situation: The customer no longer needs your service, and you do not want it to appear in the customer's records. Or perhaps you accidentally selected the wrong customer when scheduling.

  • Customers DO NOT receive any notifications.

  • Deleted jobs:

    • Will be removed from the Customer Profile.

    • Can be restored by going to Customers > Jobs > Actions > Restore deleted.

  • Deleted estimates:

    • Will remain in the Estimates tab of the Customer Profile, and the status will be displayed as "Pro canceled."

    • Can be restored from the Estimates tab of the Customer Profile.
