How to Use Campaigns for email and SMS marketing

Housecall Pro's Marketing Center offers powerful tools to help grow your business and reach out to your customers in an effective, personal, and efficient manner. The Campaigns feature allows you to send different types of marketing campaigns to your customer base, including:

  • One-time SMS campaigns

  • One-time email campaigns

  • Campaign flows

Our campaigns are great for sending out special offers, announcing new services, or just keeping your brand top of mind for your customers. Please take the quick product tour to get acquainted with all the features.

Note: some Campaigns email features are included in Essentials, Max and Max+ plans, but not available to Basic plans.


Sending a One-time SMS or Email Campaign

Step 1: Accessing Housecall Pro's Campaigns Feature

Log in to your Housecall Pro account and navigate to the "Marketing" tab on your dashboard.

Step 2: Creating a New One-time Campaign

Click on NEW CAMPAIGN to start and select SMS one-time or Email one-time to get started with sending an instant campaign to a group of customers.

To send an SMS campaign, you will need to make sure you have a custom SMS number. Find out how to set up a custom SMS here.

To send an email campaign, you will need to verify your email address.

Step 3: Writing Your Message and Preview

In the Message field, you can:

  • type the content of your text message

  • choose from one of the quick content options

  • use the the pencil to automatically generate content using AI

You can also add variables that are dynamic depending on which customer it is sending to. Keep it short, engaging, and clear.

Step 4: Selecting Your Recipients

Next, on the Target Customers page you can choose your recipients. You can select all customers, or create a NEW LIST and use the provided filters to target specific segments of your customer base, such as those with certain tag, cities, and/or zip code. You can click ADD CONDITION to add multiple conditions if you want to make sure the list meets multiple criteria. Select the group that aligns with the purpose of your campaign.

Step 5: Send

If you're happy with your campaign, click SEND CAMPAIGN to start your campaign. If you want to review or make changes later, you can also save the campaign as a draft.

Step 6: Tracking Your campaign

Housecall Pro also provides insights the status of your campaign messages. After sending, click on the campaign to see how many messages were successfully sent, delivered, and more. Use these insights to improve future campaigns.

Tips and Best Practices

  1. Keep your message short and engaging: With a limit of 320 characters and a recommendation of 160 characters for each text message, it's crucial to make every word count. Your message should be engaging and get straight to the point.

  2. Use a clear call to action (CTA): Ensure that your message includes a clear action that you want your customers to take, such as booking an appointment, availing a discount, or visiting your website.

  3. Avoid spamming: Respect your customers' time and attention. Don't send too many campaigns too often.

  4. Measure your performance: Keep track of the performance of your campaigns and use this data to improve future messaging and targeting.

Remember, the power of marketing lies in its personal, direct nature. When used effectively, it can be a powerful tool to grow your business. Make sure to abide by all relevant regulations when sending messages, including getting consent from your customers to receive these messages.
