To get started with Custom SMS and setting up a number to send and receive text messages to your customers, register your business in your Account Settings. Registration is necessary to prevent your customers' mobile carriers from blocking your messages or flagging them as spam.

Your Custom SMS number is for text messages only. If a customer calls you at this number, the call will be forwarded to the phone number you list as your Business Phone in your Company Profile.
