This article contains information about the discontinuation of Sales Proposal Tool 1.0 and how to switch to the 2.0 version effectively.
What is Sales Proposal Tool 1.0?
Sales Proposal Tool 1.0 is an older version of the add-on that helps you present different options in a visually appealing way. 1.0 proposals can be created when you click "Proposal" in the top navigation:
The view located under the https://pro.housecallpro.com/pro/proposals URL is a list view that presents all 1.0 proposals created in your account:
What is Sales Proposal Tool 2.0?
Sales Proposal Tool 2.0 is a newer, upgraded version of the add-on. It's located on top of the Estimates feature (meaning that there's no separate way to create a 2.0 proposal. To create one, you create an estimate and add a proposal presentation mode on top of it. Similarly, there's no separate list of 2.0 proposals in the system).
Sales Proposal Tool 2.0 offers an improved presentation mode and a better way to manage proposal templates, and it is fully accessible from our native iOS and Android mobile apps. Additionally, because it's built on top of the Estimates, you can take advantage of the estimate-specific features like adding attachments, adding an expiration date, changing what details the customers can see, allowing the customer to approve more than one option, or creating a proposal on an ongoing job.
You don't need to activate your access to Sales Proposal Tool 2.0; you have access to it already!
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are we discounting Sales Proposal Tool 1.0?
Since launching the 2.0 version, we no longer add new features to Sales Proposal Tool 1.0. We are now starting to remove the 1.0 version from the product to ensure our Pros use the best version of our software.
What will the discontinuation process look like?
Starting July 30th, we will only allow the creation of new proposals using the 2.0 version. To create and present a new proposal, you will create an estimate and add a proposal presentation mode to it (or, an even better way, create templates and reuse them to speed up the process).
We will maintain the old proposals list view so you'll be able to manage (edit, send, delete) your existing 1.0 proposals during this transition period. 1.0 proposals received by your customers will not change.
Starting August 30th, we will remove Sales Proposal Tool 1.0 from the product.
What exactly will happen to my data after Sales Proposal Tool 1.0 is removed from the product?
Viewing old 1.0 proposals in the Housecall Pro web app:
You will still be able to view your old 1.0 proposals, but you will do so by opening an old proposal as an estimate. This is an action you can do even now - the ID of each proposal is searchable, and searching for it opens the estimate view of a proposal.
What will change for your customers?
Your customer will still be able to view the 1.0 proposals you sent in the past. However, those proposals will be displayed in the upgraded layout.
1.0 proposal templates
When we introduced the new Estimate Templates feature, which also functions as templates for the new Sales Proposal Tool 2.0, we migrated all 1.0 proposals into the new Estimate Templates and put them in an "Archived" folder. You may notice that some of your templates have already been migrated.
We will migrate your remaining SPT 1.0 proposal templates one more time right before we start the discontinuation process. This means that all SPT 1.0 proposal templates created before July 30th, 2024 (excluding that day) will be migrated, and you will be able to continue to use them in Sales Proposal Tool 2.0.
To access those templates, you will navigate to Price Book > Estimate Templates > "Archived" templates category:
Additionally, keep in mind that there is an easy way to create a new Estimate Template quickly - navigate to any estimate with content you want to reuse in the future and click "Save as template"
