Bluon + Housecall Pro

Housecall Pro has partnered with Bluon to help HVAC Pros finish jobs faster in the field! Pros can save time on equipment research by accessing a database of over 20 million models across 200+ brands and getting the correct OEM part numbers, bill of materials (BOM), and other specifications. All it takes is scanning a unit's nameplate or typing in the model or part number.

With Bluon available in Housecall Pro, Pros can seamlessly add the searched model’s unit info into property profiles for easier documentation without leaving the mobile app.

Pros also get AI-powered support from Bluon’s MasterMechanic, which draws on insights from 135K+ real technician support calls to help them diagnose and troubleshoot with ease - all from any job or estimate in the Housecall Pro mobile app.

How to Access Bluon on Mobile

To access Bluon on the HCP mobile app:

  • Go to Jobs or Estimates (only on mobile).

  • Scroll down and tap on HVAC Tools by Bluon.

  • Choose to Scan Nameplate or Search Equipment.

  • Once you have found the unit in question, you may add to Property Profile or use MasterMechanic to diagnose and troubleshoot in real time.

  • Once added to Property Profile, you can find model info and click View in Bluon to find manuals, compatible replacements, and AI support.


How to Access Bluon on Desktop

Bluon is available on desktop through two entry points in the Housecall Pro web app.


Option 1: Full Bluon Tool Suite (via My Apps)

Access the full Bluon experience directly from My Apps in your HCP account. From here you can:

  • Scan Model — Take a photo of a nameplate to get key specs and warranty info

  • Scan Part — Scan a part label to get key specs

  • Search Models — Type a model number to get BOM and replacement part data

  • Search Parts — Enter a part number to get specs and replacement options

  • Get HVAC A.I. Support — Bluon's MasterMechanic AI for troubleshooting and technical support

  • Build Job Summary — Generate a professional job summary in seconds


Option 2: Add Equipment to a Property Profile (via a Job or Estimate)

You can also launch Bluon directly from a job to look up and save equipment to a customer's property profile.

  • Open a job or estimate in the web app

  • Go to the Property Profile section and click Add item

  • Click "Add From HVAC Tools by Bluon"

  • Choose Scan Nameplate or Search Manually

  • Find the unit — the equipment info auto-populates and saves to the property profile

Once saved, click into the equipment record to see Extra Fields from Bluon (specs, part data) and a "View in Bluon" button to open the full model page in a new tab.


FAQs

"I can’t find the unit I scanned."

Bluon is actively expanding its equipment database. If you get a "no results" message, the search is logged and sent to Bluon as a request to be added.

"My feature isn’t appearing."

This feature is only available to HVAC Pros. Contact support if you are in the HVAC industry and aren’t seeing the HVAC Tools By Bluon.

Where do I find Bluon inside the HCP mobile app?

When you’re creating or viewing a job/estimate, you’ll see a Bluon option to access manuals, parts, and AI MasterMechanic.

Do I need a Bluon account to start using Bluon in Housecall Pro?

No. You do not need a separate Bluon account to begin using Bluon in Housecall Pro; your Housecall Pro account is all you need!

Does Bluon track my history of models/parts I’ve looked up?

Yes, you can save the Bluon model to a customer’s property profile record for easy reference later.

What if I don’t have the full model or part number — can Bluon still help?

Yes. You can scan the nameplate of the unit or search just a few characters of the model/part #.

Does Bluon work in Spanish or other languages?

The manuals and parts are English-only, but MasterMechanic can speak other languages - just tell it you want it to respond in said language!

What is Bluon’s MasterMechanic?

It’s Bluon’s AI, like a 24/7 senior tech. It answers technical questions, helps troubleshoot complex issues, and creates clean job summaries!

What kind of HVAC questions can I ask MasterMechanic?

Anything — troubleshooting, common error codes, sequence of operations. Try it! It understands plain language and incomplete info and will work with you to ensure all potential problems are addressed.

What’s the difference between Bluon’s MasterMechanic and something like ChatGPT?

Is Bluon available on desktop?

Yes. You can access the full Bluon tool suite from My Apps, or launch Bluon directly from a job's Property Profile to look up and save equipment.

Does Bluon on desktop require a separate login?

No. Your Housecall Pro account handles authentication automatically on desktop.

Can I use MasterMechanic on desktop?

Yes. Open Bluon from My Apps and select "Get HVAC A.I. Support."

Can I add equipment to a property profile on desktop?

Yes. From any job, go to Property Profile, click Add item, then click "Add From HVAC Tools by Bluon."
