The Price Book by Housecall Pro is a free collection of common services tailored for your industry. These services come with detailed descriptions aimed at communicating the value you offer to homeowners.
Default Price books by Industry
Every industry in Housecall Pro comes with a Default Price Book, a pre-loaded set of common services and homeowner-friendly descriptions tailored to that trade, so you can start scheduling jobs without building your price book from scratch.
Mechanical industries, HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical include a more extensive Default Price Book. These trades come with a deeper set of pre-built categories and common services (e.g., condensers, filters, refrigerant for HVAC) compared to the standard default books offered for other industries.
All Default Price Books include homeowner-friendly service descriptions designed to build trust and communicate value.
Mechanical Default Price Books are more comprehensive, covering a wider range of common jobs specific to HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical work.
You can still customize any Default Price Book, edit descriptions, add your own pricing, or add new services, regardless of industry.
How to Access Your Price Book
To access the Price book by Housecall Pro:
Go to Price book in the left navigation bar of your Housecall Pro account on the web.
In the Price book menu at the top, select any of the following:
Services
Materials
Pricing forms
Estimate Templates
Discounts
Navigating the Price Book by Housecall Pro
When you access the Price book by Housecall Pro:
Industries: Categories are organized into a predetermined industry. (e.g., Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical)
Categories: Services are organized into relevant categories. (e.g., Condenser, Filters, Refrigerant) Click on any category to view the available services.
Services: Each service includes a homeowner-friendly description designed to showcase the value of your work.
Book Online Today Category: We’ve pre-enabled these services for online booking. To make them available, just complete the online booking setup when you're ready.
Customizing Your Price Book
The Price book by Housecall Pro allows you to customize your services:
Edit Service Descriptions: Click on any service to modify the description to better fit your offerings
Enter Your Pricing: Since pricing is not included in the Free Price Book, you’ll need to enter your own pricing for each service.
Add New Services: If you provide a service not listed in the Free Price Book, you can add it by selecting “Add Service” and filling out the relevant details.
Add image: Click on any service and add a customized photo.
Pricing Insights
Pricing Insights helps Mechanical Pros understand how their Default Price Book pricing compares to similar businesses, so they can price with confidence. It's powered by Housecall Pro's proprietary dataset of millions of real jobs, giving you a data-backed view of your local market.
Availability: Pricing Insights is only available on the Max plan for Pros with the Mechanical Package (HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical).
Market-Based Benchmarking: See how your service pricing compares to similar Pros by industry, region, and job type.
Full Control: Review the insights and decide whether to update your pricing — Pricing Insights never automatically changes, sets, or applies prices for you.
Built into Price Book: Access insights directly within your Default Price Book while setting up or updating services, with no need to switch tools.
📌 Note: Pricing Insights is currently available for Default Price Books only and is not yet available for custom price books or pricing forms.
Using the Price book in Estimates and Jobs
You can use the Price book by Housecall Pro to streamline your estimates and jobs:
Select services from the Price book when creating an estimate to auto-populate descriptions.
Adjust pricing as needed for each job based on your own pricing structure.
