Getting Started with Reviews
Reviews help you automatically collect and manage customer feedback to build a stronger online reputation and grow your business — all in one place.
By automating review requests and centralizing responses in a simple dashboard, Reviews saves you time, builds trust with real customer stories, and boosts your online visibility to help grow your business. Stay organized, respond faster, and turn positive feedback into a powerful tool for winning more jobs.
Access Reviews Dashboard
Your Reviews Dashboard is located in the Marketing Center of Housecall Pro.
Just click the Marketing tab in the top navigation bar of your Housecall Pro account, then select Reviews from the menu on the left.
Set Up and Send Review Requests
Review requests are automatically sent when a job is completed. You can change this any time in your Reviews settings.
To view and manage responses, make sure your Reviews Dashboard is set up:
Navigate to Reviews by clicking Marketing in the top navigation bar of your Housecall Pro account and selecting Reviews from the left menu.
Then, click the Set up reviews button in the middle of the page.
You now have the option to connect Reviews to Facebook or Google, or to skip this step.

If you skip the Facebook and Google setup steps, you will be directed to your Reviews Dashboard.
Understanding Your Reviews Dashboard
Your Reviews Dashboard gives you access to all previous reviews and important analysis to understand your customer feedback.
To access your Reviews Dashboard:
Select Marketing in the top navigation bar of your Housecall Pro account and select Reviews from the left menu.
Total Reviews: Counts all reviews collected by your customers across both Housecall Pro & Google Reviews of all time (including all previous Google Reviews), all platforms.
Reviews by Platform: See the total number of reviews with your average rating by platform.
View Activity: See all recent activity of emails and texts that have been sent to customers.
Edit distribution: Control the percentage of reviews directed to Housecall Pro, Google, and Facebook platforms based on preferences or business goals.
Bulk request: send review requests via email to multiple customers at once.
Recent Reviews: See reviews listed by most recent, with key information like their name, date of review, the employee that worked with the customer, review, source, and the review comment on the Reviews Dashboard.
Reply: You can reply directly to the Review, and it will post to the public on both Facebook and Google. (Note: this is a Premium Review feature only.)
Featured: If you favorite a review (select the star icon) only for HCP Reviews on HCP Website (for HCP Website Pros only).
Job: Takes you to the Job page from which the review was sent.
Filter Reviews by Source: Easily view and manage reviews from different sources by clicking the Housecall Pro, Google, or Facebook tabs in your Reviews Dashboard. This lets you quickly see how you’re performing on each platform and focus your follow-ups where they matter most.
Sending Review Requests
Your account is automatically configured by default to send Review Requests when you click or tap “Finish” within a Job.
To edit when you send a Review Request, go to your Reviews Settings:
Click the gear icon in the top right corner of your HCP account to go to Settings.
Select Marketing Center from the Settings menu on the left.
Click the Reviews tab on the Marketing Center settings page.
Scroll to the Send a review request when section.
If you update your Review settings to send the Review Request when a Job is paid, it will automatically send after you finish a job and collect payment.
Choose Where to Send Your Review Requests
By default, we will optimize your review requests for you. This means that we will send all of your customers with a Gmail email address straight to Google to leave their reviews (this is because customers need to have a Google account in order to leave a review on Google Business Profile). The rest of your customers will be split equally between your Facebook page and reviews that you can collect for your website.
You can also decide what percentage of review requests you want to go to each platform (Website, Facebook, or Google). To do this:
Navigate to the Marketing tab in the top navigation bar of your account.
From the left-hand menu, select Reviews to open your Reviews Dashboard.
In the Reviews Dashboard, click Edit distribution.
Toggle on Override optimization and set it yourself.
Adjust the percentage for each source as needed.
Click Save changes.
🛠️ Pro Tip: If you'd like all review requests to be sent to just one review source (Google, Facebook, or your website), set that source's percentage to 100%.
How to Reply to a Review
With our Premium Reviews feature, you can respond to reviews on Google, Facebook, and your website. Replies to Google and Facebook reviews will appear directly on those platforms, while replies to website reviews will be emailed to your customers.
🛠️ Pro Tip: Make sure that you have your Google and Facebook accounts connected in order to reply to all of your reviews.
To reply to a review:
Go to My Apps by clicking the 3x3 square icon in the top right corner of your HCP account.
Select the Reviews app.
Hover over a review and click the reply icon in the floating menu on the right.
In the reply window, you can either write your own response or use the "Write it for me" feature to generate a suggested reply based on the review content.
Review or edit the response, then click Send to publish it.
📌 Note: The AI-generated reply can be customized before sending to match your tone and message.
Access Your Reviews Settings
To access your Reviews Settings:
Click the gear icon ⚙️ in the top right corner of your HCP account to go to Settings.
Select Marketing Center from the Settings menu on the left.
Click the Reviews tab on the Marketing Center settings page.
On your Reviews settings page, you can manage the following settings:
Active: Toggle on or off automatic emails to collect Reviews after a job is finished or paid.
Connect your accounts: Connect your Google or Facebook account. Learn more here.
Send a review request when: Update Review send timing to when a job is finished or paid.
Select Job is finished to send review requests once Finish has been selected on the job.
Select Job is paid to send review requests once your customer pays their invoice.
Exclude specific tags: Exclude specific tags to not receive Review requests.
Customers: add a Customer Tag to the profile of a customer you don’t want getting Review requests.
Jobs: add a Job Tag so specific jobs won’t receive a request.
Notifying Customers: Update notification settings to send to customers even with notifications off.
Add reviews to my website: Select which reviews to show on your HCP Website (only available to HCP Website Pros).

Review Email & Text Preview
You can preview the email and text that is being sent out by adding yourself as a customer and going through the job process. You are unable to edit the email or text at this time.
