Troubleshooting the Housecall Pro Mobile App

Written by Nate H

If you're running into an issue on the Housecall Pro mobile app — like a screen not loading, a feature acting up, or something just looking off — a few quick troubleshooting steps can often clear it up before you need to reach out to our team.

Because outdated app versions and old stored app data are common causes of glitches, the steps below focus on getting your app updated and giving it a fresh start. Even with auto-updates enabled, these steps may be necessary to correct the issue you’re seeing.

Step 1: Confirm You're on the Latest App Version

Even if your phone has auto-updates turned on, it doesn't always mean the app has updated yet. It's worth checking directly in the app store.

iPhone (iOS)

  • Open the App Store on your device.

  • Tap the Search tab and type in Housecall Pro.

  • Tap into the Housecall Pro app card to view the app's page (this step matters — even with auto-updates enabled, the update button won't always show unless you've opened the app's page directly).

  • If you see an Update button, tap it to install the latest version.

  • If you see Open instead, you're already on the latest version.

Android

  • Open the Google Play Store on your device.

  • Search for Housecall Pro and open the app's page.

  • If you see an Update button, tap it to install the latest version.

  • If you see Open instead, you're already on the latest version.

Step 2: Clear App Data or Cache

Clearing stored app data gives the app a fresh start without needing a full reinstall. This is a good first step since it's quick and doesn't require redownloading the app.

iPhone (iOS)

iOS doesn't have a built-in option to clear app data or cache directly, but Offload App achieves a similar result — it removes the app while keeping its documents and data, then lets you reinstall cleanly.

  • Open Settings on your device.

  • Tap General, then iPhone Storage.

  • Scroll down and select the Housecall Pro app.

  • Tap Offload App, then confirm by tapping Offload App again.

  • Tap the Housecall Pro app icon on your home screen (or find it in the App Store) to reinstall it.

Android

Clearing storage will reset the app to its newly installed state (your app version won't change). This is often a good first step to try before a full reinstall.

  • Long-press the Housecall Pro app icon.

  • Tap App info from the pop-up menu.

  • Tap Storage and cache.

  • Tap Clear storage (not Clear cache).

📌 Note: All Android devices are slightly different, so menu names and steps may vary. If you don't see App info on long-press, you can also get there through Settings > Apps, then search for and select Housecall Pro.

Step 3: Reinstall the App

If clearing app data didn't resolve the issue, reinstalling the app is the next step. This ensures you're on the latest version and clears app data to the same degree as the steps above.

iPhone (iOS)

Reinstalling is the only way to fully reset the app on iOS, since the system doesn't offer a separate clear data option.

  • Press and hold the Housecall Pro app icon until a menu appears.

  • Tap Remove App, then confirm by tapping Delete App.

  • Open the App Store, search for Housecall Pro, and tap Get (or the cloud download icon) to reinstall.

Android

  • Long-press the Housecall Pro app icon.

  • Tap Uninstall, then confirm.

  • Open the Google Play Store, search for Housecall Pro, and tap Install to reinstall the app.
