⚠️ Updated April 2026: The payment screens on the Housecall Pro mobile app have a new look. Nothing about how you accept payments is changing. You'll continue using the same payment methods and following the same steps. These updates are part of our ongoing improvements to the mobile app.
How to Take Card Payments on Mobile
Accept card payments right in the app without having to swap between different systems!
To take payments on the HCP mobile app:
Navigate to the Job Details page and tap the 'Pay' icon at the top of your screen.
Next, confirm the payment amount on the Checkout screen.
If taking a partial payment, tap the Job amount box to adjust the amount that your customer is paying.
Add any notes for the payment, then tap 'Next' in the top right corner of the Checkout screen.
🛠️ Pro Tip: When taking check payments, the Notes section is a good place to input the check number.
If you have a saved card on file, you can charge the card or tap “Use other payment method.”
If you tap “Use other payment method”, select the payment type by tapping on the form of payment you are receiving:
Credit or debit card
Card number
Tap to Pay on iPhone
Card Reader
Cash
Check
Other (select if you are using any other credit card processor).
When you select an option under Credit or debit card, you can:
Manually enter the card number:
Tap Scan Card to scan the card with your device's camera.
This will automatically input the card number.
The expiration, zip code, and CVV must be entered manually.
The app will need access to your camera, so make sure to allow it permission.
Tap Card Reader if you have a Housecall Pro Card Reader and would like to swipe, tap, or chip the card.
If the Save card on file option is enabled, you will not be able to use the Card Reader.
Tap Use Tap to Pay on iPhone if you are activated with Tap to Pay to tap the card.
📌 Note: Choosing the Scan Card option only scans the card and does not take a picture. The card number will not be stored in the system. Your phone will not store a photo of the card.
Once the card information has been input, you will be able to set your tip amount and save the card on file for future payments before paying.
After payment, you will then see a screen confirming the completed payment.
A receipt will be emailed to your customer and to your company's support email address.
📌 Note: If you have the Text Messaging feature on your account and your customer has a phone number in the mobile field of their Customer Profile, they will also receive their receipt via SMS.
If customer notifications are turned off, the customer will not receive a receipt for their payment.
